Youth Services
The goal of the YWCA Youth Services Department is to assist and support high school students in gaining the necessary life skills needed to eliminate self-destructive behaviors and look toward a brighter and productive future. We do this by building development assests, promoting healthy relationships, and creating a sense of hope.
The largest program within the YWCA’s Youth Services Dept is our “Project Inspire” After-School Program. The goal of “Project Inspire” is to improve academic achievement and provide students with the opportunity to earn credit recovery within an after-school setting and provide a wide-range of services and activities to students enrolled within the East Side Union High School District in order to build developmental assets. The services include, but are not limited to: Academic Assistance using the AVID Tutorial Model, Life Skills Enrichment Classes, Fitness, Mentorship, Self-Expression via The Arts, Field Trips, Leadership Development Opportunities, and Service-Learning Projects. Project Inspire currently serves Overfelt High School, James Lick High School, Yerba Buena High School, and Andrew Hill High School. E-mail Jennifer Ramirez , Project Inspire Program Manager, or call her at (408) 642-4673 |
Our research-based after-school curriculum encompasses an integrated intervention strategy comprised of many components including academics, college readiness, family life/sex education, sports, art, cultural awareness, youth development, job skills, and career awareness. Our after school program is currently hiring facilitators for the upcoming school year. Click here for more information. |
