Parent Workshops
Parenting WorkshopsThe Family Services Department is proud to offer Intentional Parenting workshops! There's a reason behind everything we do as parents, ands we will explore the reasons and the intent behind our methods of communication, discipline, and everything in between.

A new session comes with the start of the new year. Begining Thursday June 12, 2008 an eight week session from 6:30-9:00pm every Thursday night.

The schedule includes our "Basic Parenting" workshop (for parents of children up to age 11), a "Pre-Teen/Teen" workshop (children age 11 and up) and a "Co-Parenting" workshop.

Workshops will be offered at the YWCA of Silicon Valley, 375 South 3rd St, San Jose. A workshop registration form is available for download by clicking here.

For more information, please call (408) 295-4011 ext.351 to speak to Barbara Kangas, Director, Family Services.

Our classes are interactive and fun, but most importantly, they're customized. This means your needs influence the topics! In the past we have offered several unique workshops for parents of infants to teens, including workshops for divorcing families and parents of children with special needs.

Parent workshops offered currently include:

  • Intentional Parenting
Are you an intentional parent? Do you parent with a purpose? These age-specific workshops (ages 1-5, 6-10, and 11-17), cover topics such as self-esteem, communication, discipline, and empathy. We talk about tools and techniques that work, so that you can spend less time on discipline and more time enjoying your children!

Workshops are developed to meet the needs of parents, families, and children. If there is a topic you would like to see "workshopped", please call (408) 295-4011 ext.351 to speak to Barbara Kangas, Director, Family Services.
