Sexual violence is a very serious problem that affects millions of women and men. In the United States, 1 in 5 women and 1 in 71 men have been raped in their lifetime and nearly 1 in 2 women and 1 in 5 men have experienced other forms of sexual violence at some point in their lives.

YWCA Silicon Valley Appoints New CEO
Chief Executive Officer Comes from YW in Nova Scotia
January 7, 2014 (San Jose, CA) — The Board of Directors of the YWCA Silicon Valley is proud to announce the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer.
Tanis Crosby is joining the YW after leading the YWCA of Halifax, Nova Scotia as the Executive Director for the past 10 years. Ms. Crosby comes to the agency with a proven track record of leadership, financial development and sustainability and successful program management. She is a dynamic, effective and solutions based leader.
“I am honored to be serving YWCA Silicon Valley as their next CEO,” said Tanis Crosby. “I am looking forward to working together with the incredible staff and board team to propel our mission to new heights.”
Ms. Crosby is excited to begin her career at the Silicon Valley YWCA on February 3, 2014.
