Honoring Silicon Valley's Executive Women
The Tribute to Women Awards Program, one of the nation’s most prestigious awards given by the local and regional YWCA’s, recognizes successful women executives for their outstanding achievements. It is an important and well-known event demonstrating the esteem in which companies hold their women executives. This award program was established in Santa Clara Valley 25 years ago, and participants represent most of the major companies in the Bay Area. Each year, Honorees receive a Tribute to Women award at a gala dinner event attended by Silicon Valley CEOs, dignitaries, Honorees and their families.
As one of the primary fundraisers of the YWCA, the Tribute to Women Awards Program generates funds that support the YWCA’s programs. Over 24,000 people receive services every year from the YWCA in the areas of Intervention and Prevention Services, Childcare and Economic Development.

San Jose, California – Thirty-six outstanding executive women from Silicon Valley were honored by the YWCA of Silicon Valley, May 14, 2009 at the 25th Annual Tribute to Women (TWIN) Awards Program at the San Jose Fairmont. The YWCA of Silicon Valley’s TWIN Awards Program honors not only women who demonstrate excellence in executive-level positions, but also the companies that employ these women. “Even in spite of this economic crisis, this has been another impressive year for TWIN. The talent of the women nominees was again extraordinary. I keep them in high regard because they truly are the best of the best,” said Dr. Keri McLain, Chief Executive Officer of the YWCA of Silicon Valley.
Twenty-five years ago, this awards program was established in Santa Clara Valley to pay tribute to women in industry. The participants represent a cross-section of companies in the Valley including technology, defense, communications, publishing, construction and healthcare, among others. The Honoree and the Company Representative will both receive a TWIN award at the dinner. For further information about the event, contact Heidi Lawson at (408) 295-4011, x216 or events@ywca-sv.org.
