General Donation—Because You Care, We Can Help
Donate to the YWCA The YWCA of Silicon Valley is here to help all women, children, and families residing in Santa Clara County. Thanks to the people of our community—people like you—we are able to provide the kinds of services that help women and their families become stronger, more productive, and healthy members of our community.

There are many tax-advantaged ways to meet the changing needs of women, children, and families while meeting your own financial and philanthropic goals.

  • Make a cash donation with a commitment to renew every year.
  • Increase your cash gift with employer-matching funds.
  • Ask your employer to donate equipment or services to the YWCA.
  • Take advantage of tax deductions by donating stocks, real estate, or personal property.
  • Look into the benefits of planned giving and name the YWCA in your will.

You may use our safe and secure online donation form for credit-card donations to donate to our General Fund, or to the program of your choice. A printable donation form can be downloaded by clicking here if you would prefer to send your gift by mail.

Tax Break for IRA Owners 70.5 Years Old or Older in '07
An IRA owner, age 70 ½ or over, can directly transfer tax-free, up to $100,000 per year to the YWCA of Silicon Valley. This option is available in tax years 2006 and 2007. Eligible IRA owners can take advantage of this provision, regardless of whether they itemize their deductions. Distributions from employer-sponsored retirement plans, including SIMPLE IRAs and simplified employee pension (SEP) plans are not eligible.

To qualify, the funds must be contributed directly by the IRA trustee to the eligible charity. Amounts so transferred are not taxable and no deduction is available for the amount given to the charity.

More information on this new way to support the YWCA of Silicon Valley can be found by clicking here.
Please contact your financial advisor to direct your tax-free IRA rollover gift to the YWCA of Silicon Valley in 2007.

Tax Deductability
In conjunction with some of our events, donors accept benefits, for example the food provided at our Annual Luncheon is considered a donor benefit. By accepting benefits your donation is tax deductible after subtracting the fair market value of the benefit. We will provide the fair market value of any benefit received from the YWCA associated with our event and your donation. Fair market value for in-kind gifts will be determined by the donor, not the YWCA of Silicon Valley.

Please consult a tax professional to ask questions regarding your specific tax situation; our staff is not qualified to provide tax advice.
